Ribbon Burner Fire Settings

(*See Voltarc Hyde® glass Working Equipment Fire Setting Technical Bulletin (HGWE1/92) for proper gas and air settings.)

General Burner Adjustment:

bulletBegin with air off and the gas on slightly
bulletLight the burner
bulletBring the air up slowly
bulletOnce you reach the point where the air is too much, add more gas
bulletThen more air
bulletKeep repeating until fire is as hot as you can handle or you can not increase gas or air

Note:
Avoid over heating the glass as it will turn black because the lead was reduced from the lead oxide in the glass. If this occurs, reduce the gas and leave the air at the same setting.

Voltarc 1/4" (Gas) and 1/2" (Air) needle valves are recommended for adequate adjusting of the flame

Economizer Adjustment:

Maximum gas and air flow is obtained with the lever in the down position. Gas and air adjustments are made with the needle valves. With the lever flipped up (can be done with the nee for hands-free operation) gas consumption can be cut up to one third.

The two screws "A" (Air) and "G" (Gas) only have an effect when the lever is up. To adjust them, turn them in as far as possible while keeping a flame. If the flame goes out when the lever is returned to the down position, back off the screws until the flame stays lit. You can adjust the fir for a tight flame or a fluffy, yellow flame ( for annealing) by adjusting the air screw.
